IMSS expands social security coverage and workplace safety initiatives in Mexico

The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) has launched several initiatives to expand social security coverage and improve workplace safety. In Chihuahua, IMSS presented ELSSA (Safe and Healthy Work Environments) distinctions to companies affiliated with INDEX Chihuahua. This strategy aims to prevent occupational risks and promote health and well-being within the industrial sector through shared responsibility between institutions and businesses.

Additionally, IMSS signed an agreement with the National Association of Actors (ANDA) to allow independent artists—including actors, singers, dancers, and voice artists—to voluntarily join the mandatory social security regime. This agreement provides professionals and their dependents with access to various protections, such as medical services, maternity care, disability insurance, and retirement benefits. The first phase of this program will involve the affiliation of more than 25 workers.
