IMSS in Quintana Roo tackles urgent care complaints and begins hepatitis screening

A video posted on social media showed patients, including an elderly person, waiting for attention at the IMSS urgent‑care unit on Avenida Cobá in Cancún. Viewers accused the clinic of neglect, claiming staff were “letting patients die.” The IMSS in Quintana Roo issued a statement saying the patients were treated, citing a triage system and confirming that the individual shown was attended on July 28, had a urinary catheter changed, improved, and was discharged without hospitalization.

In the same region, the IMSS launched a public‑health campaign urging beneficiaries to visit family‑medicine units for early hepatitis B and C testing. Rapid diagnostic kits are offered, with immediate referral to antiviral treatment for positive cases. The institute also highlighted available hepatitis B vaccination for newborns, health workers and high‑risk groups, and reiterated preventive measures such as avoiding shared personal items and ensuring sterile equipment for tattoos or medical procedures.
