IMSS promotes workplace safety through ELSSA program in Mexico
The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) is expanding its Safe and Healthy Work Environments (ELSSA) program through regional initiatives and corporate recognition. In Guanajuato, the IMSS held its fourth ELSSA Forum of 2026 at the Hospital General Regional No. 58 in León. The event aimed to provide companies with tools to prevent workplace accidents and reduce general illnesses. Currently, 751 companies in Guanajuato have joined the program, gaining access to resources regarding mental health, family planning, and disease prevention.
In San Luis Potosí, the energy solutions company Cummins received the ELSSA distinction for its efforts to protect the physical and emotional health of its employees. The recognition followed audits and evaluations by IMSS regarding workplace safety, chronic disease prevention, and psychosocial risk management. Cummins reported investing over 1,300 monthly training hours into health, safety, and environmental protocols to mitigate risks such as musculoskeletal injuries.
