IMSS institutional health and infrastructure initiatives

Overview

The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) is advancing various institutional initiatives focused on occupational health and infrastructure efficiency.

In Guanajuato and San Luis Potosí, the IMSS is expanding its Safe and Healthy Work Environments (ELSSA) program. This initiative provides companies with tools to prevent workplace accidents and manage psychosocial risks. In Guanajuato, 751 companies have joined the program to access resources for mental health and disease prevention, while in San Luis Potosí, the company Cummins received recognition for its investments in health and safety training.

Simultaneously, the IMSS is integrating solar energy solutions to support healthcare operations. In Hidalgo, solar-powered refrigerators donated by UNICEF are being deployed to protect the vaccine cold chain in several regions. In Tijuana, a new photovoltaic system consisting of 86 solar panels has been installed at a breast cancer detection unit to provide approximately half of its energy needs and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
