IMSS Sinaloa expands healthcare services and celebrates 71 years

The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Sinaloa is marking 71 years of service, currently supporting nearly 2 million beneficiaries. Tania Clarissa Medina López, head of the institution, reported that the agency manages 42 first-level units and 10 second-level hospitals, providing approximately 20,000 daily consultations.

In 2025, the institution reported performing over 43,000 surgeries and more than 3.3 million family consultations. Expansion efforts include infrastructure projects exceeding 4 billion pesos, with plans for a new hospital in Los Mochis.

Additionally, the IMSS Bienestar program is launching the ‘Laboratory in your clinic’ initiative. This project will install laboratories in more than 110 first-level health centers across Sinaloa. The goal is to allow patients to undergo basic testing—such as glucose, hemoglobin A1c, and urine analysis—locally to detect diabetes, hypertension, and kidney issues without needing to travel to larger hospitals.
