INA has successfully commissioned a new residue upgrading plant (DCU) at the Rijeka Oil Refinery. The project, valued at nearly 700 million euros, allows the refinery to process heavier types of crude oil, increasing feedstock flexibility and enhancing regional energy security.

Key operational benefits include the ability to produce up to 30% more diesel from the same volume of crude oil and the complete elimination of the need to import vacuum gas oil (VGO). Since feedstock was introduced on September 1, 2026, the plant has operated continuously and is currently reaching approximately 70% of its designed capacity.

INA CEO Zsuzsanna Ortutay stated that the investment will improve the refinery's sustainability and profitability while supporting the local community. The company is also continuing its transition toward green energy through projects such as a green hydrogen production plant currently under construction.
