INABIE trains food suppliers to improve school meal quality

The National Institute of Student Welfare (INABIE) has trained more than 200 food suppliers since the start of the current school year in the Dominican Republic. This initiative is part of a broader technical assistance and training program aimed at its 2,244 suppliers within the School Feeding Program (PAE).

The training covers all stages of food production, including raw material selection and handling, preparation, packaging, preservation, and delivery to educational centers. By providing both theoretical instruction and field supervision, INABIE aims to ensure that food meets established nutritional, quality, and safety standards.

Executive Director Adolfo Pérez stated that the goal is to strengthen the capacities of those directly involved in production, noting that supervision must extend beyond the finished product to the entire preparation process to ensure food safety and consistency for students in the public school system.
