Inbanuma flooding: Team Inbanuma formed to manage Typhoon 25 damage
Following the damage caused by Typhoon 25, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Chiba Prefecture, the Water Resources Agency, and the Kanto Regional Development Bureau have formed 'Team Inbanuma'. The group is conducting emergency operations to manage flooding in the Inbanuma area.
Inbanuma water levels reached 5.04 meters, significantly exceeding the planned flood level of 4.25 meters. This caused levees to breach at three locations near North Inbanuma, resulting in flooding for approximately 880 households in Narita and Sakae. Emergency drainage operations aim to reduce water levels to the normal level of 2.3 meters by approximately September 27.
In response to the disaster, the Emperor and Empress of Japan expressed their distress over the damage, particularly in Chiba Prefecture, and offered their wishes for the recovery of those affected. Meanwhile, JR East reported significant service disruptions across various lines in Chiba Prefecture, with some repairs expected to take several months.
