Incheon and Philadelphia expand cooperation in bio, education, and culture

Incheon Mayor Park Chan-dae met with a delegation from Philadelphia, a sister city of Incheon, to discuss expanding cooperation in biotechnology, economy, education, and the arts. The meeting follows a 43-year relationship between the two cities established in 1983.

Key economic discussions focused on the biotechnology sector. The Philadelphia delegation proposed that Incheon-based bio companies participate in the 2027 BIO International Convention. In response, Incheon plans to review possibilities for overseas expansion, technical exchange, and investment cooperation leveraging the Songdo Bio Cluster.

In the education sector, the cities discussed expanding youth exchanges through the Citizen Diplomat Academy and exploring academic collaborations between the Incheon Global Campus and Philadelphia-area institutions, such as the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University.

Cultural cooperation will be highlighted by an upcoming performance by the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Art Center Incheon, featuring conductor Marin Alsop and pianist Lim Yun-chan. The delegation is scheduled to visit various sites in Incheon, including Chinatown and the Songdo Global Campus, through November 6.
