Incheon biotechnology and international cooperation

Overview

Incheon is pursuing expanded international cooperation and investment in the biotechnology sector. Following a meeting with a delegation from its sister city, Philadelphia, officials discussed enhancing ties in biotechnology, education, and culture. This includes potential participation in the 2027 BIO International Convention and academic collaborations between the Incheon Global Campus and Philadelphia area institutions.

Building on these efforts, Incheon will host the 2026 Pharmaceutical and Bio Investment Fair at Songdo Convensia on November 19. Co-hosted by the Incheon Tourism Organization, KOTRA, and the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association, the event aims to strengthen the global competitiveness of the local bio-industry by facilitating investment and export opportunities.

The fair is expected to draw approximately 300 attendees, including industry professionals, investors, and international buyers. Key participants such as SK Bioscience, Lotte Biologics, Celltrion, and Shinhan Securities will participate in conferences and one-on-one business consultations. Discussion topics will include AI in vaccine production, CDMO strategies, and IPO trends. Additionally, an industrial tour of the Songdo Bio Cluster will be organized to showcase the region’s specialized infrastructure to overseas investors. The program will also feature presentations from GlobalData and Samil PwC regarding R&D trends and M&A market shifts.
