Incheon implements special Chuseok holiday transportation measures

Incheon Metropolitan City has announced a special transportation plan for the Chuseok holiday period, spanning from September 23 to 27. The measures aim to support safe and convenient travel for citizens returning to or leaving their hometowns.

To accommodate the expected increase in long-distance travelers, the city will increase the capacity of express and intercity buses. The number of buses will rise from 301 to 359, and the number of trips will increase from 416 to 475, resulting in a 72.7% increase in daily passenger capacity. Additionally, passenger ferry services to island regions will be increased by eight trips.

While urban rail and city bus services will be adjusted to reflect lower commuting demand, subway services will include late-night extensions to assist travelers returning late at night. Specifically, Incheon Lines 1 and 2, as well as Line 7, will operate 10 additional late-night trips per day, with some services running until 2:00 AM on September 26 and 27.

To ease the financial burden on drivers, tolls for the Wonjeoksan and Manwolsan tunnels will be waived from September 24 to 27. Furthermore, temporary parking will be permitted near 22 traditional markets to facilitate holiday shopping and support local commerce.
