Incheon Metropolitan City strengthens cooperation for regional development and infrastructure

Incheon Metropolitan City and the Democratic Party of Korea have strengthened their cooperation to address regional issues and secure national budget support. During a recent party-government consultative meeting, Mayor Park Chan-dae and Democratic Party Incheon City Chairman Heo Jong-sik discussed 30 key items, including 12 major projects requiring 210.7 billion won in national funds. These projects cover areas such as the Incheon e-Eum local gift certificate, the redevelopment of Incheon Port's inner piers, and the designation of Songdo as a global AI hub.

Separately, Incheon City held a ‘Dialogue with Citizens’ in Geomdan-gu to address the rapid population growth in the new city. The city announced plans to expand infrastructure, including the construction of 11 cultural and sports facilities, such as the Geomdan New City Museum. Transportation improvements are also a priority, with discussions regarding the extension of Seoul Subway Line 5 and Incheon Subway Line 2, as well as the potential creation of a new Geomdan-gu Office Station. To alleviate immediate traffic concerns, the city will deploy 21 new buses on specific routes and expand public parking spaces in Majeon-dong.
