Incheon has secured the hosting rights for the 29th International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) General Meeting and Congress, scheduled for August 2032 at Songdo Convensia. The event, often referred to as the ‘Olympics of Crystallography,’ is expected to attract approximately 3,000 experts and scholars from 60 countries, generating an estimated 25 billion KRW in local economic impact.

Separately, the 61st National Skills Competition has commenced in Incheon. Held at six locations including Songdo Convensia and various vocational high schools, the competition features 1,677 participants competing across 51 technical disciplines such as mechanical design, IT, and woodworking. The event serves as a foundation for selecting national representatives for the 2028 WorldSkills Competition in Japan.
