Inclusive sailing day for disabled youths in Casalabate, Italy
A solidarity event organized by the amateur sports association ASD Vita Maris – Marina di Casalabate took place at the Casalabate dock in Lecce province. Around forty teenagers with disabilities, accompanied by volunteers from various local groups, sailed on boats provided by the association.
The initiative aimed to make sea navigation fully accessible, removing physical and social barriers. The association’s president emphasized that the sea “levels differences and creates an immediate sense of community,” noting that the success of the day is measured by the smiles of the participants.
Volunteers ensured safety throughout the outing, offering a shared experience of wind and waves that participants and their families are hoped to remember fondly.
