Inclusive sailing programs launch for disabled and seniors in Italy's Fano and Pesaro
On 14 June 2026 the Lega Navale Italiana’s Fano section organized the sixth ‘Vela No Limits’ sail for thirty disabled and elderly participants. The two‑hour‑twenty‑minute outing, supported by the Senigallia section, the Fano municipality, civil protection, the Red Cross, OPSA and local boat owners, offered training, safety support and the use of an accessible Malupa sailboat provided by Luca Bracci. Participants could steer, learn wind patterns and enjoy a communal lunch offered by Chalet del Mar.
In the same region, the AIL‑sponsored “Sognando Itaca” project held a ceremony at Pesaro’s Cantieri Rossini, using sailing as psychological rehabilitation for blood‑cancer patients. Officials including the mayor and AIL representatives addressed the gathering, but strong winds delayed the planned sea trip. Skippers gave guided tours of the national AIL boat, which will later sail to Ancona.
Both initiatives aim to promote inclusion, respect for the sea and therapeutic benefits of sailing for vulnerable groups.
