Incra advances land reform and infrastructure projects in Brazil

The National Institute for Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra) is moving forward with key initiatives in Brazil. In Santa Catarina, the Federal Regional Court of the 4th Region (TRF4) unanimously authorized Incra to take possession of the 812-hectare Volta Grande farm in Zortéa. The property was incorporated into federal assets to settle a tax debt and is designated for the Leonel Brizola Settlement Project, which aims to provide land for 55 rural families. The court decision overturned a previous injunction that had been sought by Wagner Agroindustrial Ltda., which contested the debt and the transfer process.

In Bahia, Incra has opened a bidding process to acquire a new self-propelled ferry for the Beira Rio settlement in Boa Vista do Tupim. The estimated investment of R$ 1.75 million aims to replace a precarious vessel currently used by 416 families to cross the Paraguaçu River. The new ferry is intended to improve safety, facilitate access to municipal services, and assist in the transport of agricultural production.
