Agrarian reform and land management in South America
Overview
In Santa Cruz, Bolivia, the Departmental Agrarian Commission (CAD) has approved measures to improve agrarian sanitation, legal security, and productive planning. The commission is initiating a process to create a shortlist of candidates for the Departmental Directorate of the National Institute of Agrarian Reform (INRA) to institutionalize the leadership position.
Governor Juan Pablo Velasco stated that the commission is addressing land distribution, property conversion, and individual titling. Technical working groups will analyze land sanitation data, state land availability, and land occupation status. Additionally, regional authorities have requested that the national government include $40 million from an Inter-American Development Bank loan in the General State Budget to support the operational capacity of INRA and regional governments.
