Independent film festivals FICINDIE and BAFICI announce upcoming programming

The Canary Islands International Independent and Auteur Film Festival (FICINDIE) is celebrating its sixth edition throughout October. Held in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and La Palma, the festival adopts a ‘slow cinema’ approach, spreading its programming over a full month rather than a short marathon. The event features weekly screenings at the Sala Cultural El Desleal in La Laguna, accompanied by public debates, and extends to various universities and cultural centers across three islands.

In Argentina, the Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema (BAFICI) has opened its call for entries for the 2027 edition. The festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires, will accept feature films and short films in fiction, documentary, and experimental genres. The submission period runs from October 1 until December 18, 2026, for both national and international productions. The 28th edition of the festival is scheduled to take place from April 7 to April 18, 2027.
