Independent Gas Stations to hold four-day forum in Budapest

The Association of Independent Gas Stations (FBSZ) has announced a four-day forum to be held at Kossuth Square in Budapest from September 28 to October 1. The organization aims to discuss the increasingly difficult situation of independent fuel providers and the broader challenges facing the fuel market.

The FBSZ claims that the regulatory environment in Hungary over the last four years has placed independent retailers in a precarious position, potentially driving them toward bankruptcy. The association highlighted a disparity in the market, noting that while a partially state-owned oil company has achieved record profits due to the diesel crisis, independent small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are struggling to survive.

The forum is intended to facilitate dialogue between government representatives, transport professionals, entrepreneurs, and the public. The FBSZ is seeking answers regarding how the government intends to ensure fair competition and predictable regulation, rather than allowing the sector to become monopolized. The organization emphasizes the importance of family-owned small businesses in maintaining jobs and supporting local communities.
