Independent Meeting for Lebanon condemns Israeli map including southern territory

The Independent Meeting for Lebanon has issued a statement condemning a map published by the Israeli Foreign Ministry, which depicts southern Lebanon as part of Israel. The group described the map, released by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, as a blatant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and an attempt to demand territorial concessions in exchange for ending the conflict.

The organization urged the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to file a formal complaint with the United Nations and the UN Security Council. They also called upon the Lebanese government, the Presidency, and Christian leadership to take decisive measures against what they termed aggressive Israeli behavior.

Furthermore, the group criticized ongoing negotiations, noting that previous talks in Rome and Washington have failed to secure an Israeli withdrawal from key southern locations such as Khiam, Bint Jbeil, Naqoura, and the Beaufort Castle. They expressed concern that Israel is attempting to establish a security buffer zone, referred to as a ‘yellow zone,’ along the border.
