India: 14th accused in NEET-UG paper leak remanded to custody

The Rouse Avenue Court has remanded Sheshrav Bajrang Suryawanshi, the 14th accused in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, to judicial custody until September 18. This follows the conclusion of his two-day custody with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The CBI alleges that Suryawanshi, a resident of Nanded, Maharashtra, acted as a close associate of previously charge-sheeted accused Shubham Madhukar Khairnar. Investigators claim Suryawanshi arranged for leaked questions to be supplied to candidates and collected money from them or their families as part of a criminal conspiracy.

According to the agency, Suryawanshi allegedly brought candidates to a house in Nanded to receive the purported leaked questions. The CBI further stated that he collected original documents and educational certificates from candidates to serve as security for subsequent payments. The agency noted that the investigation into the accused and his associates remains at a crucial stage.
