India accuses Pakistan of fake news and police brutality in Kashmir

India’s Ministry of External Affairs, represented by spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, condemned reports of unrest in Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir, saying security forces have used lethal force that left several protesters dead and many injured. Jaiswal accused Pakistan of a “pattern of fake news and videos emanating from Pakistan” aimed at diverting attention from its own human‑rights violations and domestic problems. He called on the international community to hold Islamabad accountable for the alleged police brutality and misinformation campaign.

The unrest, reported in areas such as Rawalakot, is linked to economic hardship, soaring inflation and shortages of essential commodities. Pakistani authorities have deployed paramilitary forces to contain demonstrations, prompting violent clashes. Pakistan has not responded to India’s statements.
