India advances layered conventional missiles and expands defence research hub in Andhra Pradesh

India plans a multi-layered conventional missile force with short-, medium-, and long-range systems. Defence Secretary calls for diversified AMCA production lines, while the DRDO chief outlines plans for hypersonic and ballistic missiles.

Separately, the government is backing a ₹1 lakh crore investment push for aerospace and defence in Andhra Pradesh, including a DRDO defence manufacturing facility on 350 acres at Puttaparthi, poised to be one of the country’s largest aerospace and defence research hubs.

Together these moves underscore a push to strengthen India's domestic defence industrial base through large-scale infrastructure development and advanced weapons programs.
