India Alliance opposition gathering in Delhi adopts five joint demands

On June 8, leaders from 25 opposition parties assembled at the Constitution Club in Delhi for the India Alliance meeting. Attendees included Congress figures Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee, Samajwadi Party head Akhilesh Yadav, RJD senior Tejashwi Yadav and other senior politicians.

The participants announced consensus on five issues: a letter to the Chief Justice of India over alleged vote‑rigging; the resignation of the education minister amid NEET and CBSE exam disputes; a call for a multi‑party dialogue with the government on unemployment, inflation and farmer concerns; regular fortnightly alliance meetings; and daily opposition‑led sessions during the current parliamentary session.

The Aam AADMI Party reiterated it is not part of the alliance, and Mamata Banerjee declined to answer media questions during the event. The alliance scheduled its next meeting for 8 August in Hyderabad.
