India and Australia strengthen diplomatic and strategic ties
Indian High Commissioner Nagesh Singh has marked a significant milestone in India-Australia relations by performing the Bhoomi Poojan, a traditional groundbreaking ceremony, for a new High Commission building in Canberra. The project, involving FDC Construction & Fitout and GMB Architects, aims to expand India’s diplomatic presence in Australia.
In addition to infrastructure developments, diplomatic engagement has extended to regional levels. High Commissioner Singh and Consul General Anish Rajan visited Tasmania to meet with government, defense, and industry leaders. The visit focused on exploring mutual benefits and fostering cooperation between India and the Tasmanian region across various sectors.
On the security front, the fifth edition of the AUSTRAHIND joint military exercise has commenced in Thiruvananthapuram, India. The exercise involves approximately 120 personnel from both the Indian and Australian armies and is designed to enhance interoperability in coastal and island environments, surveillance, and reconnaissance.
