India deepens diplomatic and trade ties with Benin, Lesotho and Rwanda

India reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen relations with Benin during the country's National Day celebrations on August 1, 2026. Secretary (Economic Relations) Sudhakar Dalela attended as chief guest and highlighted cooperation across diverse sectors.

On July 30, 2026, India and Lesotho convened the 6th session of their Joint Bilateral Commission for Cooperation in New Delhi. The meeting reviewed development partnership, capacity‑building, humanitarian assistance and disaster‑relief (HADR) initiatives, and coordination at the United Nations and other multilateral platforms.

India and Rwanda held the inaugural Joint Trade Committee meeting in New Delhi on July 30‑31, 2026. The two sides identified priority sectors such as critical minerals, pharmaceuticals, digital technologies, agriculture and renewable energy, and created a permanent mechanism to review and expand bilateral trade and investment. Rwanda noted that India supplies about 24.5% of its pharmaceutical imports, while Rwanda is India's second‑largest foreign investor as of 2025.
