India and China hold senior military meetings along LAC
India and China have conducted their first senior military commander-level flag meetings along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Arunachal Pradesh sector. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the meetings took place at Vacha on the Indian side on September 6 and at Damai on the Chinese side on September 7.
These discussions follow understandings reached between special representatives in August 2025 and August 2026, as well as subsequent talks through the Working Mechanisms for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC). MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that a similar mechanism is also in place for the Western sector.
The meetings follow recent high-level diplomatic efforts, including the 25th Round of Special Representatives Talks in Beijing on August 25. During those talks, Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed the boundary issue and the necessity of maintaining peace and tranquility along the border to support bilateral relations.
