India and Finland deepen strategic partnership as Jaishankar discusses AI and 6G
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen in Helsinki, reaffirming the strategic partnership between India and Finland in digitalisation and sustainability. The two ministers said they would deepen trade and investment and explored joint work on startups, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, critical minerals, quantum technologies, 6G, clean energy and space. Jaishankar highlighted the potential of collaboration in emerging technologies and stressed that both countries aim to boost bilateral ties.
In a separate speech in Finland, Jaishankar defended India’s foreign‑policy choices, rejecting Western criticism of India’s purchase of Russian oil and urging that India will not tolerate aggression against any nation. He warned against the double standards of Western countries that supply arms to India’s adversaries while condemning India’s neutral stance in the Ukraine conflict.
