India and France unveil Innovation Roadmap 2030 for AI, academia and aerospace

India and France have adopted the India‑France Innovation Roadmap 2030, a bilateral framework aimed at deepening cooperation in artificial intelligence, academic mobility, startup ecosystems, space and health data. The roadmap builds on the Special Global Strategic Partnership announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Emmanuel Macron and highlights “trusted AI” as a central pillar, including joint work on child‑online safety and privacy‑preserving data‑sharing standards.

Key initiatives include the creation of a Franco‑Indian aeronautics training campus in Kanpur, an InnoXchange Bridge for research and entrepreneurship exchange, and an expanded Mutual Recognition of Qualifications framework to facilitate dual‑degree programmes and doctoral collaborations. France aims to host 30,000 Indian students by 2030, and 19 MoUs between Indian Institutes of Technology and French research institutions were signed to boost student exchanges and joint projects. The partners will also co‑host space events in Bengaluru and Paris and explore health‑data sharing pilots.

The roadmap is presented as a driver of economic resilience, sustainable development and strategic autonomy for both nations.
