India and Iran boost oil and gas cooperation at BRICS Energy Ministers meeting
Iranian Petroleum Minister Mohsen Paknejad attended the 11th BRICS Energy Ministers’ meeting in Gurugram, India, where he outlined Tehran’s positions on key energy issues. On the sidelines he met with Indian Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Energy Minister Manohar Lal to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in oil, gas and the broader hydro‑carbon sector. Both sides stressed the historic ties between the two countries and pledged to deepen economic and energy collaboration, citing the need for greater energy security through dialogue and mutually beneficial partnership. The BRICS gathering, hosted by India, also addressed water security, sustainability and innovation, providing a platform for Iran and India to explore joint projects in the sector.
