India and Kuwait hold talks on West Asia security and community welfare

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke by phone with Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Meshal Al‑Ahmad Al‑Jaber Al‑Sabah, expressing deep concern over escalating tensions in West Asia, condemning attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty, and urging de‑escalation and dialogue. He thanked the Emir for safeguarding the large Indian community in Kuwait.

India’s ambassador to Kuwait, Paramita Tripathi, met with Farwaniya Governor Sheikh Athbi Nasser Al‑Athbi Al‑Sabah and the Capital Governor, discussing ways to deepen India‑Kuwait cooperation, promote people‑to‑people ties, and support community initiatives such as the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign and the International Day of Yoga. The talks also referenced the strategic partnership signed during Prime Minister Modi’s December 2024 visit, including cooperation in sports and youth programs.

Both discussions occurred against a backdrop of regional instability following US‑Israeli strikes on Iran and ongoing concerns about navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
