Severe flooding and landslides triggered by heavy monsoon rains have caused significant casualties and destruction across India and Nepal. Reports indicate that at least 56 people have died in India and 14 in Nepal, with several others reported missing.

In India, the state of Uttar Pradesh has been particularly hard hit, recording 15 deaths and 5 injuries within a 48-hour period. The region has seen rainfall levels up to 19 times the normal daily average, resulting in damage to 117 homes and affecting over 60 areas. The Central Water Commission noted that 30 monitoring stations across seven states have signaled severe conditions, with major rivers like the Ganges and Narmada exceeding critical levels.

In Nepal, four people died in the Baglung district after a landslide buried a home. Additionally, 10 workers are missing in the Manang district after an avalanche struck a base camp on Mount Himalong Himal. Authorities have issued flash flood warnings for 49 of the country's 77 districts. The disaster has also caused infrastructure damage, including the disruption of power in Manang, Mustang, Myagdi, and Baglung, and damage to a 40-megawatt hydroelectric project caused by the Rahuganga River.
