India and Nepal held their 10th Project Steering Committee and 8th Joint Working Group meetings in Kathmandu on June 11‑12. The delegations examined progress on the Jaynagar‑Bijalpura‑Bardibas and Jogbani‑Biratnagar broad‑gauge railway lines, which are being built with grant assistance from the Indian government.

Discussions also covered SOPs for starting passenger services on the Janakpur‑Ayodhya section, the final location survey of the Raxaul‑Kathmandu link, technical support for the East‑West Railway, and plans for additional rail connections. Both sides pledged continued close engagement, and Nepal promised facilitation to accelerate completion of the remaining sections. The meetings followed similar talks held in February 2025 in New Delhi, where the same railway projects were reviewed.
