India and Netherlands seek to expand semiconductor and green energy cooperation

Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy Heleen Herbert held talks to deepen bilateral economic ties. The discussions focused on several strategic sectors, including semiconductors, critical minerals, green hydrogen, clean energy transition, and advanced manufacturing.

Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Sjoerd Sjoerdsma expressed a desire to double India-Netherlands trade, citing the semiconductor industry as a primary driver for growth. He highlighted the potential for collaboration between Dutch technology leader ASML and India’s Tata Group.

Logistics and maritime connectivity were also central to the discussions. Minister Goyal visited the Port of Rotterdam to explore enhancing supply chain efficiency and port-led growth. Both nations aim to leverage the potential India-EU Free Trade Agreement to expand trade flows and build more resilient global supply chains.
