India and Poland expand strategic ties in defense and technology

India and Poland are strengthening their Strategic Partnership through new bilateral agreements and economic targets. During official visits to Warsaw, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski reviewed the progress of their Joint Action Plan 2024-28.

Key areas of emerging cooperation include cybersecurity, space technology, artificial intelligence, defense industries, and critical minerals. Both nations are also working toward a bilateral trade target of USD 10 billion, building on the USD 6.3 billion achieved last year. Discussions also touched upon clean coal, classified information, and energy security.

On the geopolitical front, the ministers discussed the conflict in Ukraine, the security situation in Europe, and the Middle East. They also explored synergies between the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and the Three Seas Initiative, while noting the importance of the ongoing EU-India Free Trade Agreement negotiations.
