PM Narendra Modi Secures EU and UK Trade Deals at G7 Summit

At the G7 summit in Avignon, France, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met European Union leaders Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. The three discussed the India‑EU free‑trade agreement, which both sides said would be signed by the end of the year, along with an investment pact, enhanced security and defence cooperation, and the India‑Middle‑East‑Europe Corridor to improve connectivity.

Modi also held talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The leaders reviewed progress on a Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, explored cooperation on artificial intelligence, innovation, education and critical‑mineral supply chains, and reaffirmed a strategic partnership. Both meetings highlighted the intention to deepen bilateral trade, technology collaboration and regional stability, including issues in West Asia and Ukraine.
