India and United States deepen partnership on AI, chips and secure tech supply chains

On June 28 in Washington, senior officials from India and the United States held a high‑level roundtable to expand cooperation on semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies and critical minerals. Indian Ambassador Vinay Kwatra said the two countries are complementary and see a major opportunity to work together from chips to neural networks. S. Krishnan, secretary of India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, described India’s growing electronics manufacturing ecosystem and its ambition to become a trusted global technology partner. K. Nagraj Naidu of the Indian Foreign Ministry highlighted the shift from policy talks to concrete projects, stressing the private sector’s role. Mukesh Aghi, CEO of the US‑India Strategic Partnership Forum, warned that microchips and critical minerals will shape the world economy and that the partnership is positioned to be the most reliable of the 21st century. U.S. officials Bill Guidera (Deputy Under‑Secretary for Innovation and Engagement, Commerce) and Christopher Saldaña (Deputy Assistant Secretary, Energy) also participated, underscoring joint commitment to building a resilient, trusted technology supply chain.
