India announces ODI and T20I squads for West Indies series

The BCCI has announced the Indian squads for the upcoming home white-ball series against the West Indies. Shubman Gill will captain the 15-member ODI squad, with KL Rahul serving as vice-captain. The ODI lineup features the return of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja, while several players, including Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya, are absent due to the Asian Games or injury. Notably, Rishabh Pant has been omitted from the white-ball squads and will instead captain the Rest of India in the Irani Cup.

For the T20I series, Shreyas Iyer has been named captain, with Tilak Varma as vice-captain. The T20 squad includes players like Arshdeep Singh and Sanju Samson, while Jasprit Bumrah remains rested. The selection also introduces two debutants for the ODI format: Punjab all-rounder Naman Dhir and Jammu & Kashmir fast bowler Auqib Nabi.

Separately, the BCCI is addressing the future of chief selector Ajit Agarkar. His contract is set to expire on October 4, 2026. Following the 95th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai, BCCI office-bearers have been authorized to decide on his continuation, with names like Parthiv Patel and Pragyan Ojha being discussed as potential successors.
