India auto sales surge in July as Honda and Toyota report double‑digit growth

Honda Cars India recorded total sales of 8,284 units in July 2026, with domestic sales climbing to 6,014 units – a 48.5% year‑on‑year increase – while exports fell to 2,270 units. For the April‑July FY2027 period the company sold 29,863 vehicles, up 27.1% from the same period a year earlier. Honda’s Vice President of Marketing & Sales, Kunal Behl, attributed the strong domestic performance to the recent launch of the ZR‑V and the New City, and the company announced plans to introduce an electric SUV and two new sub‑4 m and midsize SUVs for the Indian market from 2028 onward.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor posted domestic dispatches of 30,516 units in July 2026, a 5% rise over July 2025, and total sales of 32,516 units including exports. The growth marks the fourth consecutive month of year‑on‑year domestic gains, driven in part by the launch of the new Hilux SUV, highlighted by Executive Vice President Sabari Manohar. Toyota’s cumulative domestic dispatches for April‑July 2026 reached 128,746 units, up 8% year‑on‑year, and total sales from January‑July 2026 rose 13% to 233,854 units.
