India auto sector projected 22-24% Q1 FY27 growth as MINI sales surge 70%
A Crisil report forecasts that India's automotive sector will record a 22‑24% year‑on‑year revenue increase in the first quarter of FY27, the fastest pace in two years. Growth is attributed to GST‑related demand, strong passenger‑car and two‑wheelers sales, a 15% rise in commercial‑vehicle sales, and exports up 19‑21% to markets such as Japan and Africa, despite price pressures from the West Asia conflict.
MINI India announced that it sold 504 cars in the first half of 2026, a 70% year‑on‑year jump, led by the locally produced MINI Countryman C. The brand highlighted expanded retail networks, special‑edition launches and local manufacturing as drivers of the surge. MINI's performance contributed to BMW Group India's record 9,075 units sold in H1 2026, a 17% overall rise.
