India automobile industry sees sales surge and new model launches
India’s automobile industry is experiencing significant growth and product expansion as the festive season approaches. In September 2026, several manufacturers reported strong sales figures across various segments, including passenger and commercial vehicles.
Maruti Suzuki reported September sales of 236,013 units, a 24% increase, while Tata Motors saw its passenger vehicle segment achieve its best quarter ever with 201,723 units sold between July and September. In the commercial sector, Tata Motors saw a 42.7% quarterly increase, and Ashok Leyland reported 28% growth.
To capitalize on this momentum, several major carmakers are launching new models. Toyota Motor Kirloskar is set to introduce an updated Glanza, and Mahindra will launch the XUV 3XO CNG, marking the brand’s first SUV with a factory-fitted CNG kit. Additionally, Audi will release a revised Q3, and Renault is scheduled to launch a Duster hybrid model.
