India-Bangladesh cricket series likely to move to January

The white-ball cricket series between India and Bangladesh is likely to be rescheduled for January next year. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has requested a window at the beginning of the year, and discussions are currently ongoing between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian government.

The series, which was originally intended to include three ODIs and three T20Is across Dhaka and Chattogram, had previously faced scheduling shifts, including a deferral from August 2025 to September 2026. While the BCCI has not yet released an official announcement, the potential January window suggests a move toward stabilizing the fixture.

This development follows a period of strained relations between the two cricket boards. Tensions previously escalated due to the release of Mustafizur Rahman from his IPL squad and disagreements regarding the T20 World Cup co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. However, relations appear to be improving following the appointment of Tamim Iqbal as BCB president, who recently visited the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
