India Boosts Security for Amarnath Yatra Amid ISI Threat Warning

India’s intelligence agencies have warned that Pakistan’s Inter‑Services Intelligence (ISI) is planning an attack during the Amarnath Yatra, which begins on July 3. The alleged plot is viewed as a diversion from Pakistan’s internal crises in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir, where recent unrest and a strike in Afghanistan killed 35 people have heightened tensions.

Indian security forces have deployed unprecedented measures along the pilgrimage route, including AI‑enabled cameras and digital scanning systems, and are intensifying anti‑terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, now in its 39th day. Officials say the ISI is trying to contact terrorists hiding in forest areas of the region and revive its networks in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir, aiming for a large‑scale strike similar to the 2022 Pahalgam attack.

The warning reflects broader concerns over cross‑border terrorism and the political fallout from the situation in Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir, where protests have drawn international attention.
