India conducts NEET UG 2026 medical entrance exam with extensive security measures
On June 21, 2026 India held the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate medical courses. The exam was conducted in 5,440 centres spread across 551 Indian cities and 14 overseas locations, with about 2.38 million candidates registered.
Security provisions were massive: more than 95,000 rooms were fitted with CCTV cameras, 51,311 signal‑jamming devices were installed, and biometric verification was required for all test‑takers. Around 2 lakh officials, 6,700 observers, and over 38,000 staff members oversaw the process, supported by police, paramilitary forces and the Indian Air Force. AI tools monitored live video feeds, and a mock drill was held a day earlier to test the arrangements. Additional measures included extending the exam duration to 195 minutes and temporarily blocking the Telegram app to prevent leaks.
The exam’s smooth execution was emphasized by the National Testing Agency, which urged candidates to rely only on official information and warned against false rumours of question‑paper leaks.
