India delivers three tonnes of anti-tuberculosis medicines to Sri Lanka

India has delivered a three-tonne consignment of essential anti-tuberculosis medicines to Sri Lanka to support the country’s TB treatment and control efforts. The shipment, which includes over 1.5 million first-line anti-TB tablets valued at approximately 52 million Sri Lankan Rupees, was formally handed over by Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha to Sri Lankan Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

The medical aid was provided in response to a request from the Sri Lankan government and was facilitated by India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. This assistance follows previous efforts to bolster Sri Lankan public health, including the dispatch of medicines via an Indian Air Force aircraft and an Indian grant of 600 million Sri Lankan Rupees for the construction of a new accident and emergency unit at the District General Hospital in Mannar.
