India energy storage sector expands with new BESS partnerships
India's battery energy storage system (BESS) sector is seeing significant industrial movement. Replus Engitech, an arm of HEG Advanced Materials Ltd, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Indus Towers to develop BESS solutions for telecom infrastructure. Under this agreement, Replus Engitech plans to provide 1.5 GWh of dedicated production capacity over a two-year period to support telecom energy needs. The company is also exploring emerging technologies, such as sodium-ion batteries, to improve reliability and efficiency.
Separately, BPE is transitioning its business focus toward the BESS market. While the company has traditionally specialized in Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and power backup solutions, it expects BESS to eventually contribute over 50% of its total revenue. BPE currently offers solutions ranging from 1 kW to 1 MW, targeting applications such as diesel generator replacement and commercial power backup.
