India equity mutual fund AUM reaches record Rs 48.5 lakh crore

Equity mutual fund assets in India reached a record high of Rs 48.5 lakh crore in July, representing 56 per cent of the mutual fund industry’s total Average Assets Under Management (AAUM). According to the NSE Market Pulse report, active equity schemes grew by 13.3 per cent year-on-year, accounting for nearly 78 per cent of total equity AUM.

Within open-ended equity schemes, flexi-cap funds held the largest share at 15.6 per cent, followed by thematic funds at 14.6 per cent, mid-cap funds at 13.6 per cent, and small-cap funds at 11.5 per cent. These four categories combined represent over 55 per cent of equity AUM.

Investor participation through systematic investment plans (SIPs) remains strong, with monthly contributions reaching Rs 31,961 crore in July. This marks the fifth consecutive month that monthly SIP contributions have exceeded Rs 30,000 crore. Additionally, SIP assets surpassed the Rs 18 lakh crore milestone, reaching Rs 18.2 lakh crore in July.
