India expands e-visa entry points to 88 international ports

The Indian Ministry of Home Affairs has expanded the number of international ports available for foreign nationals traveling on e-visas. With the addition of 11 new ports notified since January 1, 2026, the total number of designated entry points has risen to 88.

The expansion includes nine land ports—Agartala, Darranga, Gede, Ghojadanga, Haridaspur, Jaigaon, Dawki, Moreh, and Attari—as well as two airports in Bhopal and Tirupati. The total network now comprises 37 airports, 38 seaports, and 13 land ports across the country.

The Ministry noted that this move is intended to increase the utility and attractiveness of the electronic visa system. Currently, approximately 95 per cent of e-visa applications are processed in less than 72 hours.
