India expands Mission Shakti app and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme for women and child safety

Union Minister Annapurna Devi urged citizens to download the Mission Shakti mobile application, which aggregates key helpline services such as Women Helpline 181, Emergency Response 112, Poshan, PMMVY, National Cyber Crime 1930, Legal Aid 15100, Tele‑MANAS 14416 and Child Helpline 1098. She highlighted the app as part of the government’s commitment to the safety, assistance and empowerment of women and children.

Union Minister of State Savitri Thakur told Parliament that the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme, now a component of the Mission Shakti vertical, has helped improve the child sex ratio (SRB) from 918 in 2014‑15 to 929 in 2025‑26 nationally, and from 901 to 915 in Delhi over the same period. She also cited an increase in girls’ secondary‑level school enrolment from 75.5% to 83.4% nationwide, and from 99.13% to 108.3% in Delhi. The scheme is being expanded to all districts with multi‑sectoral interventions to promote behavioural change and greater spending on on‑ground activities.
