India Mission Shakti & BBBP initiative

In July 2026 Indian officials reported that the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) programme, now integrated into the Mission Shakti vertical, is delivering measurable gains for women and children. Union Minister Annapurna Devi urged citizens to download the Mission Shakti app, which consolidates helplines for women, children, cyber‑crime, legal aid and health services. Union Minister of State Savitri Thakur told Parliament that the scheme has lifted the national child sex ratio from 918 (2014‑15) to an estimated 929 (2025‑26) and improved Delhi’s ratio from 901 to 915. Girls’ secondary‑school enrolment rose from 75.5 % to 83.4 % nationwide and from 99.13 % to 108.3 % in Delhi. The government announced that BBBP will be expanded to all districts with multi‑sectoral interventions to promote behavioural change and increase on‑ground spending.

These statements underscore a coordinated push to strengthen safety, empowerment and educational outcomes for women and children across India through the combined Mission Shakti app and BBBP scheme.
